Harrogate has yet again been named as the happiest place to live in the UK.
The town topped a survey by property website Rightmove measuring how people felt about where they lives and ranked first in the UK for safety, neighbourliness and recreation.
Mayor of Harrogate Michael Newby said: “Harrogate offers a wonderful environment for residents.
“There is a great community feel which makes life a lot happier for many people.”
Wallace Sampson, chief executive at Harrogate Borough Council said the survey just confirms what Harrogate residents already know.
He said: “Harrogate is a fantastic place to live. The town is nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, we have a wonderful sense of community with residents taking great pride in where they live.”
This is the second year running Harrogate has been named as the happiest place to live. Harrogate is no stranger to accolades and in the past year has been named as the best place in the North in a quality of life survey, the third most romantic destination for Valentines and the place to get the best night’s sleep.
However all those awards come at a cost - the average asking price for a property in the town is £309,133, £37,000 above the national average.
