Thank You: on May Day Bank Holiday Monday The Sioux Tribe Line dancers of Harrogate held a charity line dance to raise money for the Stroke Association. Dean McCall provided the live music for the evening. He played a fabulous mix of old and new country songs for the line dancers with a sprinkling of 60s songs for those just wanting to boogie around their handbags. Chief Sioux (Sue Fawcett) kept the dancers happy in between the live music with dance requests. The floor was kept full all night with an array of clashing colours and neon as everyone embraced the evening’s dress code of colour. All the proceeds from the evening plus donations received retrospectively amount to just short of £800. A fantastic achievement and a big well done must go to all concerned. Over £4,000 has been raised by the dancers so far this year with monies already in the bank and a donation from HSBC via a staff pound for pound charity scheme. A special thank you must go to Hazel Holey, Elizabeth and Charlotte Garner and Stuart Duckenfield who helped on the door and looked after the raffle enabling Sue and Dean to concentrate on ensuring everyone else had a good time. Tony Swift even managed a guest singer spot! A good time was definitely had by all and the evening ended on an impromptu sing along to You’re My Best Friend. Thank you to everyone who supported the evening.

Oatlands Community Gala Fun Day: plans are underway for this year’s gala which will be held on Saturday June 29 (weather permitting) on the playing field by Oatlands Infant School. It is a great family event with lots of stalls and games to raise much needed funds for both Oatlands PreSchool and Oatlands Community Centre. If you would like to get involved, are interested in having a stall or would like to support this event in whatever way you can, please contact Alyson Duffy on 01423 871846.
