Essential Needs: you may be aware that based within our Oatlands Community we have some great charities, one of which is Essential Needs, located just behind the shops on Leeds Road. Essential Needs is a small independent charity, who, for a modest charge offer good quality, clean furniture, household and electrical items to people on low incomes or in receipt of income based benefit. They provide a wide range of items which have been donated, but they are all inspected and electrically checked before they are offered for sale. Essential Needs aim is to help as many eligible people as they can within the Harrogate District. If you are in receipt of an income based benefit and live within the Harrogate District you will be eligible to buy items from Essential Needs. If you would like to register, just go along to Essential Needs’ warehouse, Back Gladstone Street, Harrogate, HG2 8DF with proof of your benefit entitlement or a referral form. They will give you a membership card, valid for three months (people’s circumstances change, hence the reason to re-register after three months) which allows you access to their store where you can choose the items you require. They will also organise delivery for a small charge. Please contact Essential Needs if you need more information regarding eligibility, opening hours and directions on 01423 870040 or email martin@essentialneeds.org.uk
