Every year Starbeck in Bloom plant, with the aid of groups of youngsters, several hundred bulbs to extend the springtime display.
This year the girls from Harrogate Railway young footballers came out to help as last year they had enjoyed planting daffodils near their new grounds.
This time we moved nearer to the High Street and planted 600 bulbs stretching from Vida Hall towarde their grounds.
Vida Hall is the new care home opened earlier this year and they very generously funded the cost of the bulbs.
Come spring it will look really colourful down Station View as we already have a river of crocus on the other side of the road planted a few years ago and funded by Station View Residents.
Starbeck in Bloom have planted new bulbs of many different types every year since they formed in 1998, probably as many as 40,000 and what a difference it makes to Starbeck.
If you see an area that you think would benefit from some spring colour let me know and we will note it for next year and if you would like to help plant them or buy them that would be great!
The good thing about bulbs is that it is a one-off payment and a one-off job too!
