Separate plans have also been submitted alongside the application for a neighbouring plot to become a new state of the art mental health facility.

The proposals by Beckwith Knowle Developments for the land on Beckwith Head Road between Cardale Park and Lady Lane were submitted in mid-March.

Director of Beckwith Knowle Developments Ltd, Mark Rudolph said: "The land had originally been identified as a possible opportunity within the original local development plan as employment land but we have been working on the project for at least 18 months now."

The whole development including the health facility and the business park will see a total investment in excess of £50 million.

Beckwith Knowle Developers said the completed offices would be worth in the region of £35-£40 million while Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust have invested £16 million into the separate inpatient unit.
