THE new Miss Harrogate has been crowned.
Alexandra Devine, 22, who is studying at Manchester University, was awarded the crown at a ceremony in Harrogate Theatre, where 10 finalists competed.
The three judges - Denise from PinkDotty.com, Anthony Quinlan from Hollyoaks and Alex from strictlydresses.com - saw the girls participate in five rounds: charity, popularity, evening wear, eco wear and talent. In the charity category, the finalists raised more than £1,700 for the Harrogate Theatre renovation project.
As well as receiving a modelling portfolio from Denton Photography, a £250 cash prize donated by Victoria Shopping Centre and a bespoke evening dress made by strictlydresses.com, Alexandra will be going through to the Miss England semi-finals in June.
She said: “I’m so honoured to have won the title of Miss Harrogate 2011, I had a fantastic time and hope to do Harrogate proud in Miss England.”
Organiser Vivienne Edge, herself a former Miss Harrogate, said: “Ever year sees the competition gradually growing with brilliant talents and beautiful dresses and I believe this year has been the best yet.”
