A young woman has been taken to hospital after a road accident on the A658 Knaresborough by-pass.
The 18-year-old was driving a red Suzuki Swift from the Kestrel roundabout towards the St James Retail park when the car left the road and turned upside down on the embankment, at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, December 5.
Firefighters freed her from the car before she was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with “slight injuries”, police said.
Traffic was disrupted at the scene until around 9pm, and police are now investigating the circumstances of the collision.
Officers understand the red Suzuki Swift may have been overtaking another car at the time of the crash. That driver stopped at the scene and spoke to the woman, but left before police arrived.
Officers are urging this witness to come forward as soon as possible.
Other witnesses to the collision, or anyone who noticed the red Suzuki Swift prior to it, are also asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Rob Roberts.
