The 2014 Nidderdale Walk has been launched, with organisers the Rotary Club of Harrogate hoping walkers will help raise thousands for charity.

The Sunday, May 18 event offers walkers six routes, ranging from a four mile family walk to a four mile special walk designed for the disabled up to the full 26 mile marathon walk challenge.

All walks will start at Pateley Bridge apart from the Special Walk.

Registration starts at 7.45am for all walks.

Participating walkers will be able to access an official entry form, view maps and find out more about entry fees for their selected walk from the walk website www.nidderdalewalk.com

A spokesperson said: “The new Marathon Walk starts from a check point at Pateley Bridge and continues through to the Angram/Scar House reservoirs and return.

“It has been introduced for the more adventurous walker and needs to be completed within a scheduled time for marshalling purposes.

“Last year the Rotary Charity walk raised over £40,000 for 53 different charities and your continued participation will ensure that you raise further funds for your chosen charities.

“The new 26.2 mile marathon walk is for those serious walkers who would like to add a `marathon` to their achievements.

“The new route takes in the full extent of the Scar House reservoir.”

The 2014 event will be the 21st Nidderdale Walk.
