A Knaresborough man has been killed in a crash after his car left the road and hit a tree near the entrance of the Knaresborough Golf Club.

The crash happened on the A6055 Ferrensby to Knaresborough Road just before midnight last night, Sunday, May 18.

Police have confirmed a 53-year-old Knaresborough man, driver of the blue Vauxhall Astra involved, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

Police are now appealing for witnesses as they try to determine what happened.

TS Pete Wood, of the North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or saw the Astra just prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away as you may have vital information which could help our enquiries.”
