Cyclist dies in collision with pedestrian outside Harrogate

A 77-year-old cyclist has died following a collision with a pedestrian on Follifoot Lane.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which occurred at 1.40pm on Wednesday, July 13.

At the time in the incident the cyclist, a 77-year-old man from Leeds, was heading from the A658 towards Kirkby Overblow.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance where he sadly died a short time later.

North Yorkshire Police are not yet in a position to release his identity.

The pedestrian, a 72-year-old man from Harrogate, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he was treated before being released.

Traffic Sergeant Paul Cording, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you have any information which could help my enquiries I urge you to contact the police straight away.”
