I would like to send my congratulations to the Harrogate Borough Council Chief Executive, Leader of Council, councillors and all officers for having managed to consolidate from five to just two buildings - the central Council Office and Springfield House.
From what I understand and have seen, they have now moved out of Victoria Park House, Knapping Mount and Scottsdale House. This, I gather has been accomplished by retirement and reducing staff numbers which begs the question -why build new offices at Knapping Mount?
Why not sell the Knapping Mount land for much needed affordable/social housing and do not borrow £7/£9m to build new council offices.
While there is a brief opportunity, do not sign the contracts to build new offices and sell our much loved Crescent Gardens Council Offices.
Please keep our heritage buildings, save the hard earned tax payers money, provide land for housing and aim for best value.
