Village Choir: an excellent concert was given in the parish church recently entitled Songs from the Movies. The event was well supported and raised over £300 for the village hall improvement fund. The village choir have been booked to present a concert in Great Ouseburn Village Hall in October.

Church News: after the joint service at the Methodist Chapel in July everyone was invited to a lunch provided by members which was held at Applegarth by kind permission of Peter Raisbeck. In spite of the unsettled weather at the time the wind and rain abated enabling the event to be held outside. A very enjoyable event.

Members of the parish church and the Methodist Church joined their colleagues from Nun Monkton, Hunsingore and Tockwith to hold a morning service on the Tockwith show ground. A large congregation joined in the service which was led by Bishop James, Rev Roy Shaw, Rev Paul Spurgeon, Rev Peter Whittaker and Rev Gail Hunt.. During the afternoon the church tent was manned to provide information and support to those attending the show.

Garden Party: St John’s House Care Home held a very successful garden party on August 4. The event included the swing band The Trentsiders, various displays and refreshments. A good time was had by all.
