Unity Allotment News: to minimise nuisance to neighbours allotment holders wishing to burn rubbish will only light bonfires on one day at the site on Unity Grove. The planned date is Saturday, November 2 although if wet another date will be decided. The wasteland near the main gate has looked lovely all summer thanks to David Woolveridge who has planted and maintained this neglected area of Unity Allotments. Their AGM will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 6 at Bilton Area Methodist Church (previously known as Bar Chapel). After many years of dedication to the site the chairman and plot manager are standing down which leaves these two positions vacant. The committee are asking interested plot holders to step forward.

They Are A Girls Best Friend: Harrogate Women’s Luncheon Club will hear about The Story Of Diamonds at their lunch meeting on Monday, November 4.The club meets monthly at 12.15pm at the Ascot House Hotel, Kings Road where they enjoy lunch and listen to interesting speakers on all topics. Music For A Venetian Orphanage: a most suitable setting for sacred music is Saint Wilfrid’s Church, Duchy Road. On Sunday, November 3 at 3.30pm English Touring Opera soloists and baroque orchestra,The Old Street Band along with Harrogate Vocalis will perform Vivaldi: Music For A Venetian Orphanage. Vivaldi worked in Venice most of his life and this concert celebrates the orphan musicians at The Ospedale Della Pieta in Venice. Tickets at £12 are available at Harrogate Theatre 01423 502116.
