Start of New Season: the Harrogate Women’s Luncheon Club will meet at the Ascot House Hotel, Kings Road on Monday,October 7 at 12.15pm. The club meets monthly October-July when as well as enjoying lunch at this popular venue members are entertained by speakers covering a variety of topics. The first speaker for this season is Pollyanna Pickering who,with the help of slides will tell the fascinating story of The Red Wolves Of Ethiopia. Harrogate U3A: the next open meeting of the Harrogate U3A will be held at the Cairn Hotel,Ripon Road at 2pm Friday, September 27. Further details of the groups activities and membership from 07986 361051.

Church Recorders: Tuesday, October 1 is the Northern 40th Anniversary Festival for Church Recorders. A talk will be given at Saint Wilfrid’s Church, Duchy Road to celebrate. Canon Paul Greenwood,a former priest of St Wilfrid’s will speak about the building and furnishing of this splendid place of worship.

A Special Choir For Michaelmas: at 5pm Sunday, September 29, the Haydn Choir will accompany the liturgy at St Wilfrid’s Church, Duchy Road. They will be singing Josef Haydn’s Paukenmesse for the feast of Michael and All Angels.

Wine and Food Event: the Harrogate International Centre, Kings Road will see a fun-packed two days for those who love food and wine. Retailers and producers of wine and food will be offering masterclasses and workshops with a chance to taste a wide variety of products. All this takes place on Saturday, September 28 from 11am-3pm and 4-7.30pm and on Sunday, September 29 from 12-4pm. Church Service: on Sunday,September 29 at 10.30am the service at St Luke’s Church, Franklin Square will be Holy Communion.

Live Comedy: visiting Harrogate appears to be a must with so many comedians during the last few years and the latest in town is Jimmy Carr. Well known on many TV Shows his visit to Harrogate will see him at his best with his live comedy show Gagging Order, full of one-liners,s tories and jokes. Prepare to be shocked.
