Church Service: all age parade is at 10.30am on Sunday, February 10 at Saint Luke’s Church of England Church, Franklin Square, Harrogate. This is the Sunday before Lent and Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 13.

Half Term Activity: early booking is necessary for the limited places at an unusual activity planned for children of six and above to be held at the Mercer Art Gallery, Swan Road on Tuesday, February 19 10am-noon and 1-3pm. This half term activity gives youngsters the chance to be an Egyptian Curator For A Day! The sessions give the opportunity to handle Ancient Egyptian objects from the Royal Pump Room Museum’s collection, use replica objects to create museum database records, weigh, measure and record the condition and material; create a display case and write your own labels; enjoy craft activities including mummy mask and jewellery making; write your own name in hieroglyphics; have a go at mummifying with our mummy doll. Under eights must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is £2 per child with discount vouchers available to those who visit the Egyptology exhibition at the museum on Crown Place. Sunday Coffee Series: the Gould Piano Trio will perform at the next Harrogate International Sunday Series Coffee Concerts at the Old Swan Hotel at 11am on Sunday, February 10. Having played chamber music for 20 years violinist Lucy Gould, cellist Alice Neary and pianist Benjamin Frith will be playing the Elegiac Trio in G Minor by Rachmaninov, the Trio No 2 in G Major, Op 1 by Beethoven and Trio No 2 in C Minor, Op 66 by Mendelssohn. Favourite Opera: the Grand Opera of Belarus will present their production of La Boheme at the Royal Hall, Harrogate on Thursday, February 14 at 7.30pm. As this romantic opera is being performed here on Saint Valentine’s Day a bottle of Prosecco and a box of chocolates is included in the £75 ticket for a box.
