A kind-hearted woman was on hand to save the day after a teenage cyclist was knocked off his bike during a crash on Harcourt Drive.

The 14-year-old boy was riding his bike close to the junction with Kingsway, on Friday (August 5) when he was hit by a black Ford Mondeo.

A woman stopped at the scene to help the teenager who had suffered leg, head and shoulder injuries in the crash.

She stayed with the boy until his parents arrived at the scene before he was taken to Harrogate District Hopsital where his condition is described as "comfortable".

Police are now trying to trace the woman as well as any other people who either saw the crash or either black car or cyclist prior to it.
