Christmas Coffee Morning: at Killinghall Village Hall on Saturday, November 16, 10.30am-noon. Admission £1.50 adults, 50p children including refreshments. Chocolate tombola, cake stall, Christmas stall and games raffle. Supporting Erym Russell (Killinghall Church) as she embarks on a voluntary trip to Sri Lanka and India to teach and support orphans and disabled children.

Village Hall AGM: the village hall’s management committee will be holding their annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 19 in the village hall. Timed to start at 8pm, the AGM will follow the committee’s regularly quarterly meeting, which is being held from 7pm in the kitchen of the large hall due to other events being held in the large and small halls on the night. As always, members of the public are invited to attend either or both of the two meetings to find out what goes on behind the scenes in order to keep the village hall viable and on track. Committee members would also welcome any comments or suggestions from residents as to what they would like to see their village hall able to offer local people in the future.

Christmas Tree Festival at Killinghall: at the church of St Thomas the Apostle, Killinghall. Friday, December 6 -Sunday, December 8, to raise funds for local and national charities - St Michael’s Hospice, Martin House Hospice, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Harrogate Homeless Project, The Royal British Legion and Yorkshire Cancer Research. Our weekend festival starts with a Friday Twilight Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at 6-8pm to view the trees. Admission £3. On Saturday there will be a Christmas Fayre at 11am-3pm (admission £2) and a Christmas Cracker Concert at 7pm with the White Rose concert Band and other local acts – tickets adults £6, children £3 available from Church Committee or 563241, 770377, 529817.

The weekend will finish with Carols by Tree Light at 3pm on Sunday, December 8 in St Thomas’ Church. All sponsors will receive a full timetable of the events. If you would like to sponsor a tree at £50 for a 3-4ft tree or £65 for a 5-6ft tree it will be decorated on your behalf with lights and ornaments. The tree will then be displayed with your details. All donations for the Christmas trees will be given to the chosen charities. The event will be advertised on the radio and in the newspaper and all sponsors will be thanked and included where possible in these adverts and a list of sponsors will also be placed at the church. If you feel you would be able to support this event, please forward a cheque payable to St Thomas Church Fund to: Mrs Collins church secretary, Church Fundraising Committee, Bronte Lodge, 28 Moor Close, Killinghall, Harrogate HG3 2DZ by Friday, November 22.
