ONLY one week remains to secure your place in the Engage Mutual Midnight Walk in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice.
The walk itself - supported by the Advertiser - takes place on Saturday, July 2, but registration closes next Friday, June 17.
Hundreds of local people have already signed up for the walk, but organisers at Saint Michael’s are urging those who haven’t yet registered to step forward now to avoid missing out.
The event, which this year celebrates its fifth anniversary, is a quarter marathon walk aimed at raising vital funds for Saint Michael’s, the charity that helps families across the district living with terminal illness and bereavement.
Chief executive Tony Collins said: “The Engage Mutual Midnight Walk is our flagship fundraising event and we’re delighted that once again our loyal supporters are throwing their weight behind the cause.
“We need all the support we can get in our mission to care for people in the region who are dealing with terminal illness and bereavement, so please think about signing up with your friends and family or as a team with work colleagues and associates.
“It’ll be a fantastic occasion and one that brings together an entire community in the name of an incredibly worthy cause.”
One in two people in the UK is or has been effected by the work of a hospice and Saint Michael’s has actively responded to increasing demand in the Harrogate district to double the number of patients it can care for since 2007.
The hospice now has the capacity to provide care for more than 2,400 people every year through in-patient care, day therapy, lymphoedema support, bereavement support, respite care and caring for people in their own homes.
The event sees the local community take to the streets of Harrogate at midnight to raise vital funds to help the Hornbeam Park-based charity continue its vital work.
It starts and ends at the Yorkshire Events Centre, on Wetherby Road and is suitable for all ages and abilities, with a £12 registration fee. Secure your place today by visiting www.midnight-walk.org. Alternatively paper registration forms are available from any Saint Michael’s shop or by calling the hospice on 01423 879687.
