Harrogate women are urged to help Cancer Research raise over £100,000 by signing up for Race for Life 2014.
Last year nearly 1,800 women took part in Race for Life on the Stray raising £92,000 and this year organisers hope to get 2,200 women and girls signed up to help smash their target of £117,000.
Sarah Threadgall, Cancer Research UK’s Harrogate events manager, said: “We’re calling on Harrogate’s mighty-mums, gutsy-grans, feisty friends and go-getting girls to join our formidable army and take on cancer at this year’s Race for Life.
“We know how committed Harrogate women can be when they really make up their minds to do something.
“We want to harness that power to stop cancer in its tracks, by raising money for life-saving research.”
The Race for Life will take place on June 15 starting at 11am and for the first time this year a 10k event will run alongside the 5k race.
Sarah added: “Race for Life is non-competitive. It’s not about being fit or fast. Most women are able to walk 5k in an hour while chatting and having fun. It is an amazing way to celebrate life but also remember those who have been lost to the disease.”
