An evening of music and mayhem brought the Nidderdale community choir and orchestra together with a number of guest artists and groups to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The event, on Saturday, July 6, showcased the enthusiasm and talent of those taking part, singing and playing music.

Organisers said many of the performers have never sung in a choir or played an instrument since leaving school, yet it helped to raise nearly £1,000 was raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“This event would not have been possible without the time, energy and support of a whole host of local businesses and the community in general,” said organisers.

“Special thanks to all the performers, to the folks who baked cakes, washed pots, served tea and drinks, cleared up, decorated the hall and generally mucked in.”

The Community Orchestra meets Tuesday evenings between 6.45pm and 8.45pm at Nidderdale High School and the Community Choir on Thursday evening 7pm to 9pm in the Memorial Hall.
