Harrogate fitness trainer Steve Bannister has completed the gruelling Ironman challenge.

The triathlon challenge requires participants to swim 2.5 miles, cycle 112 miles and complete a 26.2 marathon run.

Steve, who runs Conditioned Training, completed the challenge in 14 hours and 39 minutes.

Steve said: “I take pride in setting goals for clients, whether it is a 5k, 10k or half-marathon runs.

“I take part in these too, to help motivate clients through races.

“I took this culture to the next level and trained for nine months to take part in the Ironman UK series in Bolton.”

Steve runs Conditioned Training with Jake Perks.

The pair met at university, and, in his final year, Steve became a coach at Harrogate Rugby Club.

The business offers strength and conditioning support to schools such as Harrogate Grammar and Ashville College.

Steve said: “As much as I am about the hard work running the business and keeping on top of management tasks, I do try to implement a fun and active vibe to both clients and trainers alike.

“For the past two years I have entered the gym team into various extreme assault course competitions.”

Steve is the lead strength and conditioning coach for Scottish Exiles groups across the country.

He still works with the rugby club, and university teams across Yorkshire.
