The Harrogate-based charity was founded by Pam Roberts five years ago, following the death of her husband from a brain tumour and to date the charity has raised a staggering £450,000. All of the money goes towards funding the Brain Tumour Research Laboratory which is located at St James’s Hospital, Leeds and is the only research laboratory dedicated to brain tumour research in Yorkshire.

Pam Roberts said: “This was our inaugural ball, which we hope to run bi-annually, and we wanted to make it a really special occasion that everyone would really enjoy. We have been overwhelmed with the positive and generous support including the Royal Hall who gave us the venue free of charge, all of our sponsors and of course everyone who attended and gave so generously on the night.”

Pam added: “We are a very tiny charity which is totally run by volunteers, many of whom have lost loved ones to a brain tumour. We are determined to keep driving our fundraising forward to reach our target of raising £1m by the end of 2015 to enable us to continue promoting, pioneering, research to eradicate this cruel and indiscriminate disease.”
