Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust has received a donation of £8,000 from the charitable trust of Bradford-based cash plan provider

Sovereign Health Care.

The Trust’s services are delivered at Harrogate District Hospital and in settings such as community hospitals, local clinics and patients’ homes.

Sandra Dodson, Chairman, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust for their generous donation, which is enabling us to buy much needed extra equipment, including two emergency trolleys for our Accident and Emergency Department.

“These extra life-saving facilities would not have been possible without their donation and I would like to thank them for their support.”

The grant from Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust to the Harrogate and District organisation is one of six donations it has just made to NHS trusts in Yorkshire totalling almost £50,000.

Sovereign Health Care has no shareholders and any surplus it makes is reinvested into the business or given by Gift Aid to its charitable trust.

The charitable trust generally supports local organisations improving the health and wellbeing of people in Bradford and the surrounding area or national, health-related charities providing clear benefits to the people in the locality.

Russ Piper, a trustee of Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust and chief executive of Sovereign Health Care, said: “We’re proud of our long history of supporting the NHS in Yorkshire and are determined that this commitment will continue. The Trust is vital in providing much-needed care in the area it serves, and we’re delighted to supply this useful grant to further its good work.”
