Young bookworms are set to have a wizard night at libraries across the area on February 4 as the second annual Harry Potter Book Night takes place across the world.

A library spokesman said: “On Harry Potter Book Night: A Night of Spells, we’ll be sharing the wonder of JK Rowling’s unforgettable stories and, most excitingly, introducing the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter.

“North Yorkshire’s young wizards, witches and Muggles will be treated to an evening of games, readings and quizzes.

Harrogate Library invite children aged 7-11 to join in the magic from 4.14-5.30pm. Activities include crafts, a wizard, duel, games and refreshments. Fancy dress is optional.

County Coun Chris Metcalfe said: “We are so excited to be joining up with schools, libraries, bookshops and community centres throughout the UK and Ireland and indeed the world to celebrate the second annual Harry Potter Book Night.”

Booking is essential. Tickets, £1, from Harrogate Library on 01609 536658 or harrogate.library@northyorks.gov.uk
