Harrogate will mark the terror attacks that killed at least 129 people in Paris with a Vigil for Peace on Friday evening (November 20).

On Friday night (November 13) Islamic State (IS) gunmen and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars, almost simultaneously which killed at least 129 and left hundreds wounded.

To mark a week since the attacks, residents are invited to join in a 45 minute Vigil for Peace at the Cenotaph from 8pm.

The Mayor of Harrogate, Coun Nigel Simms, will attend the vigil while residents and visitors have also been asked to bring a tea light and a jar to the service.

A book of condolence will also be opened at St Peter's Church in their glass corridor on Friday afternoon, from 12pm-5.15pm and then again on Saturday from 9.30am-5.15pm.
