Mother's mission to raise £16k to help her daughter communicate

Layla Banert, 7, was diagnosed with autism when she was two years old, and finds it difficult to talk and interact with other people.

Layla has been in a mainstream school for four years, but her mother Justyna feels that she now needs different support to meet her needs.

Justyna is raising money for Layla to be enrolled on a one-to-one development programme developed by the Autism Treatment Centre of America that is focused on social interaction and engagement.

Justyna said: “Our main goal is for Layla to be independent and for her to be able to share her feelings with us. Instead of trying to force Layla to conform to a world that she doesn’t yet understand, we will join her in her world first.

“The Son-Rise Programme is different from everything that we have been told to do so far, and we think it is the best chance for her to be truly happy.“Layla has so much potential and I want to emphasise to others that there is always hope. We believe in Layla.”
