Fundraising Day: Tadcaster fundraiser, Sue Natkus and her helpers will be travelling to York today, Friday, August 13 to hold a fundraising day in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The event is being held at St Crux church near the bottom end of the Shambles and on sale will be cakes, bric a brac, books and refreshments. Community Cafe: Every Wednesday during August there will be a community cafe held at the Alternative on Chapel St from 10-noon. Under 11s will need to be accompanied by an adult.
CRE8IT: Two fun filled days of art, crafts and animation takes place at Tadcaster Grammar school on Monday,August 16 and Tuesday, August 17 from 10-3pm .The CRE8IT session is aimed at youngsters aged eight to 14yrs and costs 25 but could be free for those who qualify under the mee too scheme. Joe Knowles Trophy: members of Tadcaster Harriers running club will be competing for the Joe Knowles Trophy on Thursday evening August 19 when they will be running 5.1 miles of the old course handicap. Runners meet at 7.30pm for the Garnet Lane start.
So You Think you can Dance: Dance teacher Sadie Flower will be showing young people aged five+ how to learn, perfect and perform great dance routines at a one day course on Wednesday, August 18. The course takes place at Tadcaster Grammar school from 1-3pm and costs 2 per participant but free via the mee too scheme. Scuba: Scuba diving classes take place at Tadcasters community swimming pool on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 August at various times. Climbing Tower: The Climbing Tower and Street Sports return to Tadcaster East primary school on Monday, August 16 between 10-noon. This is suitable for youngsters aged 7+ and is free. Details from tadcaster Extended Services , number above.
Graffiti Art: A five day urban art workshop (graffiti art) working alongside a professional artist is being held at Tadcaster's Manor Farm youth centre from Monday, 16 to Thursday, 20 August between 1-4pm. The course is free and available to anyone between 13 and 19yrs but it is essential to attend all five afternoons.
