Sporty youngsters help raise money for charity

CHILDREN from Harewood Primary School raised money for Sport Relief 2010 this week by running as many laps as they could around a nearby obstacle course.

The obstacle course, in the adventure play area of nearby Harewood House, saw over 100 children from the school climb ladders, tentatively walk over nets and struggle with the monkey bars for over an hour - all to raise vital cash for Sport Relief, a Comic Relief spin-off charity.

Sport Relief takes place from today until Sunday, when the whole of the UK will come together to take part in Sport Relief Miles being held at 16 locations across the country.

Locally, Stockeld Park near Wetherby will be hosting a Sport Relief Mile event this Sunday and already 350 people have registered online to take part.

Entrants of any age can choose to run 1, 3 or 6 miles around the woodland walk area of the Stockeld Park estate grounds.

Either visit www.sportrelief.com to register or simply turn up on the day. All money raised during Sport Relief this weekend will be spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people both here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.
