"No dogs in court, madam"
A RACEHORSE trainer accused of owning a dangerous dog has been refused permission to take the animal to court to show off its temperament.
Carol Anne Key-Forestal appeared at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on Monday to plead not guilty to being the owner of a dog which was dangerous on October 7 last year and to fight an application for the dog to be either kept under control or destroyed.
Key-Forestal, 56, of Merry Vale Stud, Cass Lane, Calcutt, Knaresborough, claimed neighbours had been mounting a vendetta against her.
She was late at court and explained to presiding magistrate Elizabeth Hesp that she had kept her dog locked up the previous day as it had been Mothering Sunday. Between 4pm that day and 6am on Monday there had been an incident of breaking and entering on her holding. She had reported it to the police and that had caused a delay in her setting off for court.
"So that just illustrates why I need the dog," she said, adding that she would like to bring the dog to court to show "just how ferocious he is."
Miss Hesp adjourned the case for trial on July 22 and told Key-Forestal dogs were not allowed in the court.
