Luxury hotel plans spark huge interest

HUGE interest has been expressed in a £100 million luxury hotel complex at Flaxby, near Knaresborough say the developers.

Last month saw the announcement of plans by York-based developer The Skelwith Group for a five-star hotel, due to be sited on a 283-acre country estate at Flaxby.

The region’s top property sales teams are joining forces to deal with one of Yorkshire’s biggest development projects at the Flaxby Country Club with Hunters Property Group’s York office being the sole agents for the multi-million development, located near the A1, between York and Harrogate.

All 303 rooms at the hotel complex will be sold to individual investors with a guaranteed return for eight years, fixed at 7.5%.

Due to the high level of interest following the public launch, The Skelwith Group has announced that the prices will be rising from mid June. Currently they start at 89,950 with this rising to 99,950 on June 14. The Skelwith in-house sales team – headed up by Tom Frank – will work closely with Hunters to target investors for the rooms.

Kevin Hollinrake, Managing Director of Hunters Property Group said: “It’s great to be involved in probably the most exciting development project in the north of England and we feel we have the contacts and experience to help make the project a success.”

The five-star Flaxby Country Club will include over 300 rooms, four helipads, three restaurants, luxury spa complex, bars and boutiques, set around a 27 hole golf course.

Work is expected to start later this year, with completion in 2011.

The hotel could be the biggest luxury facility in the north of England, if plans for the site are apporved.
