Knaresborough steps back to the Medieval age!

KNARESBOROUGH was transported back hundreds of years last wzkend when the Castle Top became the scene for a Medieval camp.

The annual Medieval Day, organised by Harrogate Borough Council’s Museums and Arts Services, and part-funded by Renaissance Knaresborough, and now in its tenth year, saw thousands of visitors enjoy a free day out taking in the historical spectacle of Medieval life.

The jolly jester, birds of prey demonstrations, cooking Medieval-style, music, story telling, sword fighting and old fashioned games were just some of the activities visitors could watch whilst there was free entry also to the Castle and Courthouse Museum.

Youngsters could try out the new computer game Timegate: The Prisoner of Knaresborough Castle, which was available to play at the Museum or for the very young, there was the opportunity to do some dressing up in Medieval costume.

Some fine weather certainly helped the visitor numbers too for what was not only enjoyable, but an educational day out.
