Knaresborough Flower Club:

OUR new Flower Club calendar started with the aptly-named 'The Show Must Go On' with President, Dorothy Gerrard standing in for a demonstrator unable to attend and providing the club with a remarkable evening of facts, finesse and flowers.

The first part of the evening was information about the history and development of Harrogate Flower Show, presented by club member, Jean Lock. All the background knowledge and know how was revealed by Jean in her usual relaxed, amusing style with some very funny ‘show stories’ keeping everyone entertained.

Dorothy represented the club at the recent Harrogate Flower Show and won third place. Her wonderful interpretation of ‘An Era in Time’ was intricately recreated for members to enjoy. She has researched the subject fully taking care to show off the Greco Roman period to every advantage. Attention to detail included staging with props, mosaic flooring painstakingly designed and stunning garlands of deep scarlet and magenta roses. The final result was a tribute to huge creative skill, planning and sheer determination producing a masterpiece fit for an Emperor’s garden.

The club’s next event is a workshop - ‘Lots and Lots of Leaves’ by Pam Kitchen. This will be followed by a trip to Sutton Park on June 9 and a talk on ‘Blooms and Bloomers’ by Janet Hayton on June 23.

All members and guests welcome. We look forward to welcoming you at our next meeting on Wednesday, May 26 at 7.30pm in Holy Trinity Church Hall, Knaresborough. Contact Jean Carter on 01423 867031 for further details.
