Harewood House chief to step down
THE top man at Harewood House is stepping down a month before his three-year contract ends.
Richard Mansell became chief executive of Harewood House Trust in February 2008. He was previously in charge of Leeds Chamber of Commerce.
He will resign his position on December 31. “It’s my decision - ~I am under no pressure to go,” he said. “In fact, there has been some lobbying for me to stay on.
“This was always going to be a three-year project for me, though. I was brought in to review operations and make changes and these will be completed by the end of the year.I also want to spend more time with my family.”
Mr Mansell will continue to work for Harewood House part-time and hopes to do some consultancy work away from the estate.
He attracted headlines earlier this year when Harewood House successfully sued a catering firm, Dine Ltd, for thousands of pounds of unpaid commission.
