Glamour girls' catwalk fundraiser

GLAMOROUS girls and boys from Tadcaster Grammar School will be stepping out on the catwalk and hoping to raise much-needed funds for the Lymphoma Association.

Year 11 students will be hosting An Evening of Glamour at the School on Thursday 11 February from 7.30pm.

The event will feature a catwalk show with 30 local girls and boys modelling a selection of evening wear, which will be available to purchase or hire for this year's School Prom.

There will also be many stalls available to browse and buy a variety of accessories and beauty products.

Joyce Harrison, Head of Year 11 said: "All monies raised from the evening will go to help teenagers suffering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer affecting the lymphatic tissues.

"A raffle held on the evening will help to boost funds, thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

"We are extremely grateful to Karen Cooke, a local dress designer, who has donated the first prize of a handmade dress, which will be made to the winner's specifications and Mila Brides of Acomb, York, who have donated evening dresses as the second and third prizes.

"We are also grateful to Sue at Floral Elegance for donating the flower displays for the evening, Kuki's Beauty Parlour and Debbie at The Works who are giving their time to make up the girls modelling on the evening and of course all the stallholders."

Tickets for the event are available from the school on 01937 833466 or on the door priced at 5 for adults and 3 for students.

This includes entry, a glass of Bucks Fizz or orange juice and nibbles.

If you would like to help sponsor the event in any way, please contact the school on the above number and all donations will be gratefully received for the Lymphoma Association charity.
