Gallery and giftshop takes vacant spot

A QUAINT crafts shop has opened in one of the vacant units of the King Street Studio Workshops.

Called Kirsty Hopkins, after its 22-year-old owner, the gallery and giftshop sells handmade textiles, gifts and goodies, such as notebooks, cards, and coffee cup warmers.

All are handmade by Kirsty, who plans to run workshops in the near future to share her skills.

"I was doing exhibitions up and down the country, I have worked in Korea, America, and Australia, but I wanted a permanent base and this seemed like a good opportunity", said Kirsty, who now lives in Grassington.

"I was just walking by one day, and I saw the units were up for let, and I thought that it looked nice.

“After talking to other artists, I saw that it could really work. Everyone has been so nice and friendly, coming by to say hello, and despite the poor weather before Christmas I have still been quite busy."
