Former pub could house offices
A FORMER pub in Collingham could be turned into offices if a planning application is successful.
The Travellers’ Rest on Harewood Road is still owned by Punch Partnership, but the application to develop it has been submitted by Irwins Ltd of Horsforth, via its agent Wildblood MacDonald.
The plans include several separate office areas, along with a meeting room, kitchen and toilets on the ground floor.
The first floor would house four directors’ offices, a board room and additional work space.
The applicant also intends to replace the windows and front porch to the building, while the parking provision would be reduced from more than 60 spaces to 40, with new disabled bays and cycle parking areas.
The offices would be used by Irwins, which said it has looked for other suitable accommodation in the Wetherby area but has not found it.
The application forms state the building has been used as a pub/restaurant but previous businesses have found it unsustainable and it is currently empty.
Its last occupant was restaurant Chapter One, run by chef Steve Collinson and serving tapas-style food with local ingredients.
After setting up in summer 2008, Chapter One closed less than 18 months later.
