Explore glorious gardens at Goldsborough Hall
THE gardens at Goldsborough Hall will once again be open to the public this weekend.
The stately home’s gardens have been restored by owners Clare and Mark Oglesby, who purchased the Hall in 2005, and will be open to view on Sunday from noon till 5pm.
Elizabeth Balmforth, the newly-appointed curator at RHS Garden Harlow Carr will be performing the official opening ceremony.
The hall first opened its gardens under the National Garden Scheme (NGS) in March this year attracting more than 1,600 visitors.
Prior to this, the last time the 11-acre gardens were open was 80 years ago in 1930 when the Hall was the home of HRH Princess Mary.
Clare Oglesby said: “We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth and privileged to have her come and open the gardens.
“The grounds have a unique history, not to mention some beautiful and rare plants, so we feel it is important to share their beauty and heritage, whilst also raising money for the NGS.
“With all the flowers in full bloom, the gardens are at their most beautiful at this time of year and we are looking forward to hearing Elizabeth’s views on our landscape designs and welcome any ideas for the gardens’ future development.”
Admission is 3.50 for adults, children free. All proceeds go to the NGS.
Afternoon tea and light lunches will be served in the main house.
