Elvis lives... in Middlesmoor
ELVIS was alive and well - and rocking at Middlesmoor on Saturday.
Mo Shine, Elvis impersonator, was just one of the acts performing at the Music4Life event held at the Crown Hotel to raise funds for a music library at St James's cancer unit in Leeds.
Mo was joined by Chris O'Connor and Jumpstart, who paid tribute to “an amazing community”, saying that it was the best audience they had ever performed for.
That was music to the ears of organiser Elaine Graham, who said: "It was a very successful event - one of the best dos in the dale - and everybody really enjoyed it.”
Other attractions included a bouncy castle, a mobile art studio, cream teas and Pimms, a cake-stall, tombola, Trees4Life promises, barbecue and an all-day disco.
Despite the blustery weather, the event was extremely well attended and raised around 2,000.
Elaine, who is recovering from cancer and received specialist treatment at St James’s, said: “A great big thank-you to everyone who contributed in any way with free facilities, performances, gifts and donations and also to those who helped, as without all of them the event could not have taken place.”
