Domino players ' spot of Lotto luck

MEMBERS of a social club in Knaresborough had a winning hand, but not during their weekly games of dominoes.

A group of 14 dominoes-playing members from Park Place Social Club have scooped 52,786 after matching five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on Wednesday, June 11.

The syndicate, who call themselves ‘The Park Place Wednesday Afternoon Club’, often spend their time playing dominoes and socialising; now they are celebrating!

Syndicate member and club stewardess Stacy Donnelly, 27, said: “I watched the Lotto draw and could not believe it. At first I thought we had just five numbers, which was great, but it was even better when I realised we had the bonus ball too.”

Stacy continued: “As soon as I had contacted Camelot’s regional centre to verify our win, I had the pleasant task of phoning all the syndicate members.

“It took a while to convince some of them; in fact I think one or two still think I have made some sort of mistake!”

The syndicate members are still deciding how to spend their respective share of the winnings.

However, Stacy plans to invest her share.

The winning Lucky Dip ticket was bought at the Sainsbury’s local store at Knaresborough bus station.

The winning Lotto numbers were 1, 8, 22, 28, 35, 44 and the bonus ball was 19.
