Cycling on the Stray nearly here
CYCLISTS could be allowed to use the Stray within weeks, after an important council decision.
A report containing draft bye-laws was approved as expected at yesterday's Harrogate Council general purposes committee.
The proposals will now go to public consultation, then return to the committee with possible amendments - the final step in the process.
Coun Don Mackenzie, cabinet member for planning and transport, said the council thought it had amended the bye-laws to permit cycling last year, only for legal advisors to ask for further scrutiny of the measures.
He said: "We haven't allowed cycling on the Stray for hundreds of years, so a few more weeks will be fine."
