Choral group to join forces with famous band
THE TadChorale group is to join forces with the award-winning Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band (CMFCB) to present the Best of Brass and Voices at the Riley-Smith Hall, Tadcaster on Sunday 5 July at 7.30pm.
The well-known band hails from the small pit village of South Elmsall in the brass band heartlands of the West Yorkshire coalfields between Doncaster and Pontefract.
It can be traced back to humble beginnings in 1884, but its reputation has flourished and the CMFCB has become one of the best-known bands in the world representing Yorkshire at National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in London and winning virtually every honour possible including European Champions and BBC Best of Brass Champions.
This year the band celebrates its 125th anniversary, and TadChorale is especially honoured to have secured this special date to perform alongside it.
Under its conductor Russell Gray, CMFCB will perform such well-known classics as Punchinello, Slavonic Dance, Fantasia on British Sea Songs, Jerusalem and Pomp and Circumstance.
In contrast TadChorale will present a varied programme including Chattanooga Choo Choo, Bohemian Rhapsody, Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, Tea for Two and Old Mother Hubbard.
Tickets cost 8 and are available from TadChorale on 0113 2812957, CMFCB Secretary on 01977 642031 or from Gallery 42, St Joseph Street, Tadcaster on 01937 530465.
