Car plunges down ravine
A CAR plunged 20ft down a steep ravine after skidding on ice late on Tuesday night.
The silver Volvo S70, travelling on the A59, hit ice near to the top of Kex Gill Moor at Blubberhouses at around 10pm.
The car ploughed through safety barriers, and fell 20ft down the side of a deep ravine, landing in a stream at the bottom of the cliffs.
Firefighters from Harrogate and Menwith Hill fought to free a man and a woman who were trapped inside the car, and ambulance crews rushed the pair to Harrogate Hospital suffering from spinal injuries.
Their condition is not believed to be life threatening.
