Business Association's sign support

BACKING the Wetherby News's Signpost Our Town campaign is one of the key aims of Wetherby Business Association this year.

The campaign has been relaunched with the support of town and ward councillor Alan Lamb, who is urging a change in policy from the Highways Agency to allow the brown sign to be put back on the A1(M).

The business association's newly-elected chairman, Rosemary Nicholson, has vowed to give the campaign her full backing because of its importance to Wetherby.

She said: "I want the association to drive this forward because it's such a concern for us all. We're standing very firmly with Alan Lamb to see if we can get that reinstated as soon as possible.

"That's coupled with getting Wetherby services changed to Deighton Bar or something else more suitable. People think that's Wetherby, when we've got a beautiful town here that they're missing."

The Highways Agency has said its policy is to have as few signs as possible along motorways.
