Bet on Banksy to pull a crowd. . .

FANS of the illusive street artist Banksy have been flocking to a Harrogate gallery to catch a glimpse of his most iconic and sought after works.

Banksy: Due North, at the John Mackie Gallery on 15 Cheltenham Mount, is the biggest exhibition in the north of screenprints by the artist.

The show of 25 prints includes the Andy Warhol-inspired portrait of Kate Moss and the classic 'Sale Ends' and 'Destroy Capitalism' silkscreens – not shown in public since their release in 2006.

Richard McTague, of RedHouse Originals which organised the exhibition, said: "The reaction so far has been overwhelming really.

"There's been a real interest locally but we have also had people travelling from further afield to come and see the show.

"Everyone at RedHouse are huge fans of Banksy's work and we also come from the position of being collectors.

"We were keen to share the collections of works with the people of Harrogate and the north."

The works have been sourced from various private collections and are signed by the artist.

They range from 2,000 to the likes of the Kate Moss screenprint which is around 30,000

l The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 11am-5.30pm .
