A wolf-whistling gnome has been stolen from a garden in Thirsk.

He is fitted with a sensor which detects motion, and wolf whistles when someone walks past.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the theft to come forward.

PC Adam Gatenby, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The owner is very upset by this theft and would very much like to get her gnome back.

“The gnome is not expensive but it holds great sentimental value to her and I am appealing to anyone who can help the investigation to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 asking for Adam Gatenby and quoting reference number 1212020762.
