UPDATE - major blaze destroys furniture warehouse

A fierce blaze which broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning has completely destroyed a Norwood furniture warehouse.
Firefighters fought through the night in a desperate attempt to try and save the Batheaston bespoke furniture makers, protecting the main building but the warehouse but has been left a smouldering wreck.
Emergency services had first been called by a passer-by who spotted the flames at 2am. The flames quickly spread and within minutes had engulfed the building.
Fire crews from Harrogate called for backup and, at its height, the fire was so fierce that five engines, an aerial ladder platform and a water bowser, were called to the scene.
The blaze was brought under control by 5am but officers remained on site through yesterday morning, damping down the wreckage.
The cause is being investigated.
