St John’s sporting success
The winning atheletes from St Johns C of E Primary School in Knaresborough
Hardworking athletes at Knaresborough St John’s Primary School are celebrating after their sporting prowess saw them win the North Yorkshire School games.
For the second year running the school represented Harrogate and district competing against children from all over the county at the Catterick-held games on February 25.
Twenty-one year children from Year 5/6 performed well in a variety of track and field events – led by team captains Jess Head and Matthew Eversted. Their points score earned them the National Silver Standard in sports hall athletics.
St John’s athletics coach Dave Millea said: “This is an amazing achievement for the second year running, especially with the high standard of competition in the county. The children’s attitude to training and competition has been a great example of how the Olympic legacy can inspire at grassroots level.”
