Children at Meadowside School, Knaresborough, enjoy their skipping lesson (S)

Children at Meadowside School in Knaresborough have taken a break from their usual lessons to spend a session learning about skipping.

As part of the school’s new playtime improvements, a team of skipping specialists came in on Friday, March 1 to instruct pupils on moves such as hopscotch, straddles and double unders.

Even the teachers joined in and the midday supervisor staff had a session on how to swing the ropes correctly and safely for Double Dutch skipping. The children were not just skipping for fun and fitness – all week they had been putting their new skills into practice to raise money for the British Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart campaign.
