CCTV footage of the men police want to trace regarding the Rainbows End shop sign (s)
Police have revealed CCTV images in a bid to ramp up efforts to find those responsible for removing and dumping a Knaresborough shop sign.
The solid oak sign was taken from the Rainbows End shop on the High Street at around 1am on October 15.
The sign, valued by its owner at £300, was later found by Rainbows End owner Peter Rumsey in the beer garden of a nearby pub, damaged beyond repair.
North Yorkshire Police want to speak to the two men in the pictures, as they may have important information about the incident.
PC Marie Scott of Knaresborough Police said: “This was a completely mindless act of criminal damage and I am hoping the men in the images can assist with our investigation. I am appealing for anyone who recognises the men to contact the police, or better still, for the men to contact police themselves.”
Mr Rumsey called police the day after, letting them know the incident was caught on his shop’s CCTV camera.
Police have made enquiries at the town’s pubs, but it is believed they were closed well before the incident took place.
The removal is the latest incident to hit the lighting shop.
On separate nights in April and August, an amount of scented candles were taken from the shop, and, the owner believes, later sold online.
A window was also broken at the store on June 22.
