Bilton Gala Queen 2013 will be crowned on February 27 at Bilton Cricket Club.

The winner will get to be Queen for the day at the Bilton Gala and also gets the chance to lead the parade on the day in May.

Last year’s winner, Ella Hyde, is preparing to pass the crown on this years Queen or indeed King.

Gala committee member Stuart Frost said: “Boys are as welcome to apply as girls, infact we would like more boys to try. We’ve only had one Gala King since it began in 1973.”

On the night applicants will be expected to answer a few questions in front of the panel which includes Stray FM’s Alex Cann.

Mr Frost said: “They aren’t difficult questions so there is no need to worry, just things like, what is your favourite thing about Bilton? What would you do if you were Queen of Bilton?”

This year the Gala will have a history theme with live reenactments, Mr Frost said thecommittee had wanted to do something different and have lots going on.

He said: “Last year was Olympic themed and the year before was Royalty, the committee decide the theme together and it adds to the occasion.”

Entries close on Saturday February 23 and application forms are availible online at www.biltongala.org.uk.

Applicants must be aged between eight and 16 and either live in Bilton or go to school in Bilton.

The winner will be chosen at 6pm at Bilton Cricket Club.
